As you are aware, Pope John Paul II died on Saturday, April 2. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. His funeral was held this past Friday. Please keep the Cardinals, who are gathered in Rome, in your prayers as they discern who to chose for the next Holy Father. Bishop Moeddel remains in the coronary care unit of Bethesda North Hospital. His condition seems to be improving. Within the next few days he will be transferred to Saint Margaret Hall for therapy and skilled nursing care. There will be a second collection Sunday, April 17 for American Bishop’s Overseas Appeal. P lease use your envelope for this collection and be as generous as possible. The St. Ann Sodality will have their dinner Sunday, April 17 after the 11:00 a.m. Mass. The menu: Fried Chicken, Corn Beef, Stir Fried Cabbage, Corn Pudding, Mac & Cheese, Greens, Green Beans, Candied Yams, Corn Bread, Coffee, Tea, Punch and Dessert. All for just $6.00. The St. Ann Sodality purchased all the beautiful Easter Lilies for our altar. Their proceeds from these monthly dinners decorate our altar. Please support the Ladies. It will be held Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. The Men of St. Mark will be having their pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 30 in the church undercroft. The time will be from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Please mark your calendars and plan to come out to support our men. In honor of St. Mark’s 100th Anniversary we are sponsoring a Gospel Affair on Sunday, May 15 in the undercroft. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. Dinner will be served at 3:00 p.m. The St. Mark Praise Dancers will start the affair at 3:30 p.m. Ann Beal Sinclair, renown gospel singer from the Cotton Club, Harlem, NY. and native Cincinnatian will be our soloist. Tickets are $15.00 per person. The tickets are on sale starting today after Mass in the undercroft. If you have not made your gift to the Archbishop’s Fund Drive we invite you to do so. Many of our parish family members are helped and benefit from AAFD, directly or indirectly. Many individuals depend on your help.
