The sacrament of Penance, popularly called confession, is also referred to as the sacrament of Reconciliation (more accurately, it is the Rite of Reconciliation and the sacrament of Penance). The Church has always believed that Christ gave the Church the power to forgive sin (cf. John 20:23). In the course of history, the Church has exercised that power in various ways. Early sources (Jas 5:16 and the Didache 14:1) Penance is celebrated by the community during Advent and Lent. Please contact the pastor to schedule an individual appointment. |
