Christ instituted the sacraments of the new law. The seven sacraments
touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give
birth and increase, healing, and mission to the Christian's life of faith.
Sacraments of Initiation
- Baptism
- Baptism incorporates a person into the body of Christ.
- Confirmation
- Confirmation deepens the life of the Spirit received in baptism.
- Eucharist
- Receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus makes us physically one with Him.
Sacraments of Healing
- Penance
- Penance obtains forgiveness from God and reconciles us with the Church.
- Anointing
- The prayer and anointing of the Church brings health to soul and body.
Sacraments of Service
- Matrimony
- The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church.
- Orders
- Holy Orders
is the sacrament in which a bishop imposes hands upon a man, and uses the
prescribed prayer, to confer spiritual power and grace to carry out the
ordained ministry of the Church. Within this one sacrament there are the three
sacramental orders
of diaconate, priesthood and episcopate
